January's GIft
Yes I know I'm a bit late with this one. I finished it yesterday.
This is a quilt made from a cheaters panel that I put three borders on.
On to February's now. Not sure what that'll be yet.

It's for Betty an 80 something neighbour of my FIL's. When my FIL was widowed quite a few years ago Betty decided that he needed loooking after. So everytime she bakes she sends over some cakes. Her husband shsares a love of gardening with my FIL so they swap plants and seeds.
Some years ago I made a quilt for my FIL which he drapes over his couch. Betty has been admiring this for some time so I decided to make a quilt for her.
I'm not going to wait until Christmas to give this to her because of her age. Once it's washed and dried I'll give it to her. Probably on the weekend.
To finish the post some close ups of the quilting.
On to February's now. Not sure what that'll be yet.

January Finish
Here is a picture of a simple Christmas tablerunner that I made. Very simple focus fabric with borders. I cross-hatched quilted the center. I am counting this as my January "gift of the month".

I'm here, I'm HERE!!
This is going to be fun!!!! I am here for a GOM but for totally different reasons. I don't celebrate Christmas but have committed to give my daughters a homemade gift every month this year. I'm having a blast doing this project. Here are links to the first gift in January. I have February, an undetermined month and July gift finished, September half done and am working on birthday banners for their birthday months. This blog will give me the opportunity to post things as I finish them without the fear that they may log on my blog and see the photos. My only concern is that I am able to keep up with two blogs.

Gift of the Month
Are you already thinking about Christmas 2009? Do you want to have a "Handmade Christmas"? If you answered "yes" to both of these questions, then you have come to the right place.
I want to have a Handmade Christmas and I thought "what if I challenge myself to make a minimum of one gift per month? I would have 12 gifts ready for Christmas (maybe more, depending on my time.)
I discussed the idea over at my blog "Humble Quilter" and several people were interested. Then I happened upon Freda's Hive where she has started "Handmade Christmas 2009" and is listing lots of ideas, links, etc. for projects for a Handmade Christmas. I think these two ideas could work "hand-in-hand". Go to Freda's Hive for ideas, and you can use this blog to post pictures and comments about what you've made.
If you would like to join, please comment and be sure to include your email so I can send you an "invite" to the blog which will enable you to post pictures, etc.
Ready, Set, Go......Let's have a Handmade Christmas 2009 by making a Gift of the Month!
